Short Stack Press offers private print parties and events in addition to production work for clients. Please reach out if you are interested in collaborating or having a private event! These private events are a great way to engage friends, family, and coworkers in creative play together. I work to tailor each private event to foster memorable and meaningful experiences. Whether you are a seasoned artist or a first-time printer, you are welcome!
Examples of private events include retirement celebrations, team building projects, birthday parties, friend gatherings and group projects. Participants of all ages can experiment with typesetting, using a printing press, lino block carving, Lego prints, pressure printing, and other techniques to create broadsides, collaborative posters, cards, postcards, invitations, ex libris papers, and other print materials.
To view public workshops I’m working with others on, check out the Goshen Printmakers Guild!
FAQs:
What is letterpress printing? Letterpress printing is a traditional relief printing technique where raised letters or images are inked and pressed onto paper to create an impression. The process involves setting movable type or engraved plates into a press, inking them, and then pressing paper against the surface. This method produces a tactile, debossed effect that gives printed materials a distinct texture and craftsmanship. The letterpress printing presses in our studio range in age, our oldest is from 1880 and the youngest is from 1960 and we love all of them so much.
How much does it cost for a private workshop: It can vary depending on how many people you have present and how long the workshop is!. Generally a 3 hour workshop for 8 people runs for about $350. Contact us about a more specific cost estimate for your event!
When can I schedule a private workshop? We’re flexible! If we’re in town, we can make a daytime or evening workshop work.
How long can the workshop be? I offer private events ranging from 1-3 hours. Reach out to talk about the appropriate time period for your event! Depending on what you want to do, some things need more time to execute!
Can I bring my own food and drink? Yes, please touch base with me about that and we’ll work out the details of what is allowed in the studio! Something that is easy to eat is better than a full plate of food, but we make make things work generally!
Can I bring in kids? Yes! We love having kids of all ages in the studio. Depending on how many kids will be there you may need to bring along an extra adult or two. The studio is a fun place to be but it is not a playground and all humans must follow the basic safety rules of being in the studio.
